Keeper Goals History
Demand and Precision Parts (D&P), the parent company of Keeper Goals, was founded on May 4, 1974 was founded by Jim Moynihan and John Grellinger in Jim’s garage in Wauwatosa, WI. Recognizing the need for more space almost immediately, they moved to a larger facility owned by Ernie Gher, where they could better accommodate their growing business. Although Jim and John eventually parted ways in their professional pursuits, their friendshipremained strong. Under Jim’s leadership, alongside his wife Laura, D&P focused on metal-cutting services while also seeking new avenues for growth, setting the stage for the development of Keeper Goals.
The inception of Keeper Goals began with a simple need: in 1977, Jim designed durable soccer goals for his children’s grade school, St. Jude in Wauwatosa, WI. This project blossomed into the official launch of Keeper Goals in 1978. Jim’s early trade show experiences revealed valuable insights about the market, especially the importance of quality, durability and safety to park and recreation professionals.
Armed with this knowledge, he dedicated himself to creating reliable equipment. The introduction of standard soccer goal models like the M83 in 1983, known for its strength and safety features, and the M88W, which added wheels for mobility, significantly contributed to the brand’s reputation for excellence. Overcoming challenges, including floods in the late 1990s that forced a move to Butler, WI, in 2002, Keeper Goals continued to grow and evolve.
Under the leadership of Jim’s son, John Moynihan, who joined the company full-time in 1992, the business expanded its product line to encompass a wide variety of athletic equipment, from soccer goals to custom solutions for various sports. The company’s family-oriented culture remains strong, with multiple generations involved in daily operations, reinforcing a commitment to quality and innovation. Today, Keeper Goals is recognized as a leading manufacturer and distributor of athletic facility equipment in North America, dedicated to meeting the needs of its customers while upholding the values instilled by its founders.
